Bosley

Bosley was the sweetest big little wolf-dog you'd ever have met - even though he had a tendency to snap at zookeepers, but that was just because he wanted the food they were holding. Bosley was one of two wolf-dogs we had at the A To Zoo; him and Freya made the best pair, and those two were inseparable.

We had to say goodbye to Bosley a few weeks ago, as he passed from old age. He was an integral part of the zoo, and his death had a big impact, even on zookeepers that never really knew him.

Adventures with Bosley

I, Sandra, fed Bosley the most out of anybody else in the zoo. I'd like to think we had some sort of bond, as he stopped attacking me after only a week, which is rather impressive.

Bosley Goes For A Walk

The first time we ever closed our doors to the public, or at least the Sector that houses Bosley, I thought it would be a great idea to take Bosley for a walk. I wrestled with him to get a harness, lead and a muzzle on, and once we did we took a nice stroll down the Sector.

Thanks to my superb strength, this beast never strayed too far from me as we met all the different animals. He seemed to enjoy himself and he was on his best behaviour, so when we got back to his enclosure I gave him all the treats I could possibly give him. Three. I was allowed to give him three treats.

Food Bowl Bloodbath

What I like to call the "Food Bowl Bloodbath", three years ago we had a little bit of an issue. Some moron zookeeper who had only been here a week thought it would be smart to steal the key to the wolf-dog enclosure, grab about twenty food bowls, and throw them in. Why? I have no idea. But the noise from the metal bowls clanging on the ground send Bosley into a panic (he's a wimp when it comes to noise), which set Freya off, and the zookeeper got bit in the arm.

The bite was so bad it broke his bone and he was immediately rushed to the emergency room. I was thrown into the enclosure to clear up his mess, the blood and bowls, and to calm down Bosley since I am the only person capable of approaching him without being mauled.

Bosley's Passing

Bosley's passing hit us hard. I'd say we weren't expecting it, but he was getting quite old and slowing down a lot. We mourned of course, and he was given a mini funeral. After his funeral, we gave Freya some treats. Five, this time, since it was a sad occasion and she was mourning alongside us.

We announced it to the public the same day he passed. We recieved a swell of support, many coming to visit the zoo just to see Freya. I would like to personally thank everybody who visited the Zoo and met Bosley; I hope he had the same impact on you as he did on me.

Author's Notes

This article is written as a tribute to Bosley, one of two wolf-dogs from my workplace. He unfortunately passed away from old age the same day I am writing this article. Even though he constantly tried to eat me, he was an integral part of the Sanctuary and meant a lot to me, and everybody who works here.

I would also like to make it clear that none of the "Adventures with Bosley" adventures ever happened. He was a good boy.
